Laura Medina
My name is Laura Medina Medina. I am originally from Mexico and the second of seven siblings. From a young age, I felt a deep curiosity about the meaning of life and the possibilities for personal growth. That search became clearer after immigrating to Milwaukee in 2004, where I faced experiences that transformed my path—including postpartum depression following the birth of my daughters. That process led me to yoga as a doorway to healing, and over time, I trained as a yoga instructor in Mexico with the desire to share these tools with my community.
After arriving in Milwaukee, I encountered cultural and language barriers to practicing my work, which reinforced the importance of creating wellness spaces in Spanish that are accessible and culturally meaningful. Over the years, I have become involved in projects focused on social justice, community health, and leadership, especially through Mujeres con Poder de Transformación Social, where I found a community that inspired me to share my gifts with empathy and commitment.
I am trained as a yoga instructor and adapted Tai Chi instructor, an emotional health facilitator, a breathworker, and a peer support specialist. I have collaborated with various organizations—including CORE/El Centro, clinics, addiction recovery programs, and community spaces—supporting individuals and families in their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
I deeply believe in the principle that no one walks ahead and no one is left behind: we walk together, sharing what we have for the well-being of the community. Yoga, Tai Chi, and ancestral practices are my pillars for maintaining resilience and for accompanying others on their own healing journeys.
